Václav and Tereza

We are getting married

Václav & Tereza

We would love you to be there with us.

Counting down

A Saturday morning in a café

Our story

We met in November 2019 in a queue for coffee. Tereza ordered a flat white, Vašek ordered the same because he had no idea what to order — and he still drinks one every morning.

It took us three years to buy a washing machine together, two more before Rolf arrived, and one freezing afternoon on Vítkov hill before it was clear where this was going. Vašek had the ring in his jacket pocket all day and was terrified of losing it.

One thing is left: to get all of you in one place, eat something good together and dance until the band stops playing.

The day

We will meet in the courtyard before noon, for mulled wine and so that everybody has time to say hello. The ceremony starts at one in the barn, and it is the only thing that runs to the minute.

Take the rest as a guide. Nobody is in a hurry, and nothing happens without you.

The day before

  1. 18:00

Supper for those coming from afar

    The granary, Statek Lhotka

If you arrive on Friday, come up to the farm for goulash and a beer. No programme — just a chance to see each other in peace.

The wedding day

  1. 09:30–12:00

    Getting ready

    Statek Lhotka

Tereza and the bridesmaids in the attic room, Vašek somewhere downstairs, probably with a coffee.

  2. 12:00–12:45

    Guests arrive, mulled wine

    Courtyard

Hot mulled wine in the courtyard, punch for the children and somebody to take your coat. Come early enough to have a chat.

  3. 13:00–13:40

    Ceremony

    Barn

In the barn, by the fireplace. The only part of the day that really runs to the minute.

  4. 13:40–14:30

    Congratulations and a toast

    Courtyard

A queue, hugs, sparkling wine. The photographer will find you in small groups.

  5. 14:30–15:00

    Family photographs

    The orchard behind the barn

Short and organised, we promise. Anybody not on the list can go and get warm.

  6. 15:00–17:30

    Wedding lunch

    Granary

Four courses in the granary. The seating plan is by the door.

  7. 17:30–18:00

    Cutting the cake

    Granary

    With coffee.

  8. 18:30–19:00

    First dance

    Barn

Rehearsed about three times, so please be kind.

  9. 19:00–23:30

    The band and dancing

    Barn

Kapela Bez Ladu a Skladu play, then Vašek’s brother takes over the music. The bar is open the whole time.

  10. 23:30–00:30

    Midnight goulash

    Granary

Because by half past eleven absolutely everybody is hungry.

The day after

  1. 09:30–11:30

    Breakfast for whoever stayed

    Granary

Eggs, pastries and a lot of coffee. Come in whatever you like.

Where to find us

Statek Lhotka is a farm two kilometres past Kostelec nad Černými lesy, about forty minutes by car from Prague.

The whole day happens in one place — the ceremony in the barn, lunch in the granary and dancing back in the barn once the tables are cleared. Nobody has to drive anywhere, and in any weather nothing is far.

Dress code

Smart casual

Jacket yes, tie no. Smart but comfortable.

December, a barn and a stone floor. Wear something warm that you can dance in — a jacket for the men, a dress or a trouser suit for the women. We like muted colours: sage, khaki, terracotta, cream. Please leave the white to Tereza.

Gifts

We are not expecting anything. Coming out past Kostelec in December and staying until morning is a present in itself.

But if you insist: we have had a home for ten years, so we would rather have something towards a honeymoon in Norway than another set of plates.

  • Bank account

1234567890 / 0800 — please put your name in the message for the recipient.

  • An envelope on the day

Any of the bridesmaids will take it; you will know them by their sage dresses.

  • Flowers

Rather not, please — the barn is decorated, and they are hard to hold on a coach.

Good to know

If anything comes up, write or call. It really is no trouble — it is much worse when somebody does not ask and then spends the whole day unsure.

  • Date

    Saturday 11 December 2027

  • Ceremony

13:00, in the barn at Statek Lhotka

  • Finish

Whenever you like. The last coach to Prague leaves at 2:30.

  • Children

Yes, very much so. From three o’clock there is a play corner with a sitter in the granary, and a children’s menu too.

  • Photographs

Phones down during the ceremony, please. The photographer will do it better, and you will see it with your own eyes.

  • Weather

December in a barn. It is heated, but between the barn and the granary you cross the courtyard.

Questions

When do we need to reply by?

By 30 September 2027, so that we can give the chef and the farm their numbers. You can answer right here through the link in your invitation — it takes a minute.

Can we bring the children?

Yes, and we would love you to. From three o’clock there is a play corner with a sitter in the granary, and a children’s portion on the menu. Just tell us how many and how old.

Where can we stay?

Ten rooms are right at the farm and we are booking them. There are more in Kostelec, five minutes by car. The details are under Accommodation.

What should we wear?

Something warm that you can dance in. The barn is heated, but December is December and the courtyard is outside.

Can we get a lift?

Yes. The coach leaves Černý Most at 11:15 and comes back at 23:00 and at 2:30. It is free — just ask for a seat when you answer the invitation.

Is there food without meat or gluten?

Yes, both. The meat-free main is roasted pumpkin, and the pike-perch and one tier of the cake are gluten-free. Tell us about anything else by the end of October.

Can we arrive on Friday?

Of course. At six in the evening there will be goulash at the farm for everybody coming from further away — no programme, nothing formal.

Get in touch

Ask us anything about the wedding. On the day itself, though, better ask Anička — our heads will be elsewhere.
